VILLA BERETTA

The Villa Beretta Rehabilitation Center, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of VALDUCE, is specialized in treating neuro-muscular conditions coming from stroke, traumatic brain disease/ injury, spinal cord disease/injury and other neuro-degenerative and genetic diseases. From the clinical perspective, the most advanced technology is used, from diagnosis to monitoring to aids and personal tutors and orthosis, to robotics, augmented reality, virtual reality and home-care systems in order to follow patient when they go back home and let them enjoy the advantages of  a continuous care pathway. Main treatments are oriented towards neuro-muscular pathologies. From the research perspective, current research areas are: use of robotics for upper/lower limb rehabilitation, analysis of EMG signals during robotic training; testing different platforms/technologies for innovative neuro-cognitive rehabilitation mainly in stroke patients; telemedicine and patients’ response to home-based rehabilitation programs; new orthosis for drop foot in stroke patients; new orthosis for upper limb rehabilitation in stroke patients; post-polio rehabilitation program, analysis of EEG and fMRI signals to investigate cortical reorganization after rehabilitation training; development of new exercises using innovative ICT technology for cognitive and motor rehabilitation.
